ALL OVER THE WORLD
OUR CORE VALUE
Increasingly producers of Food Ingredients from emerging countries are able to meet the requirements of the stringent European Food Market. Moreover the generic trend in the Food Market is that manufacturers require full transparency & traceability for all their ingredients.
Simultaneously this should be combined with a minimum lead time throughout the entire process to optimize the usage of working capital. Hence it is essential to have a flexible and quality assured supply chain.
The protein transition is on the one hand a shift to less food from animal production (such as meat, dairy and eggs), but on the other hand also animal production that is fed in more sustainable ways. The aim is to accelerate this transition over the coming years and BIC wants to play an important role to achieve this.
With a world population that continues to increase, the demand for food continues to increase and so does the demand for protein. To meet that demand, under changing and less predictable climate conditions, we need to rethink and make the way we produce and consume proteins more sustainable. In doing so, we must not only take into account sustainability aspects such as emissions, biodiversity, the land and water use we want to reduce and the energy efficiency of our food production. We also want to be able to offer these people healthy products with a good taste and texture. In addition, production must also be economically feasible in order to be successful on the market. So many aspects to take into account.
A protein transition is underway: we cannot continue to feed everyone with mainly animal proteins in their diet. This does not mean that animal proteins should disappear from our diet completely, as long as this animal production, and the production of animal feed, can also be sufficiently sustainable.
BIC can play an important role to achieve a better sustainable world for all of us
